The Research Department is composed of 23 investigative research staffs, and we mainly do independent and contract research. (Contact: 092-721-4905)

■Independent research

　In independent research, we collect, organize and analyze a wide variety of information on the economy and society in the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Yamaguchi region, and we propose policies and strategies accordingly.
　By researching and analyzing the updated statistical data in the whole of the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Yamaguchi region, we are grasping the economic and business trends.We are also the executing agency of the “Economy Watchers Survey” for the Kyushu district (economic trends), which the Cabinet Office holds monthly.
　These pieces of information are sent to everyone via publications of periodicals such as the “Monthly Bulletin of Kyushu Economic Research”, “Data Kyushu”, “Outline of Kyushu Economy”,“Economic Survey of Kyushu” or e-mail newsletters.
　Please join us at our seminars such as “Kyushu Economic Research Center evening seminars ”, “BIZCOLI Talk”, and “seminars on investigation techniques” or lectures we hold such as the “Kyushu Economic Research Center economic report meetings” and “lectures on the Economic Survey of Kyushu.”In independent research, we collect, organize and analyze a wide variety of information on the economy and society in the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Yamaguchi region, and we propose policies and strategies accordingly.

■Contract research

　 In contract research, we have commissioned many researches and investigations from civil services and various organizations through a wide range of subjects such as reconstruction of regions, industrial promotion, and economic analysis, based on the decreasing population, globalization, exacerbation of environmental issues, in light of the recent regional economic conditions.The area of studies in the contract research covers all kinds, from the whole of Kyushu prefecture, municipal, to the development districts.We of course have abundant experience in investigation research not only in Japan, but overseas, particulary in Asia such asSouth Korea, China, South East Asia, and India.

　As a tradition since our establishment, we make an analysis based on surveys, with tools such as correct data and interviews. We also carry out research while also taking advantage of a wide range of network and external researchers, such as universities and corporations.

　Our achievements in commissioned research activities of more than 50 projects a year is one of the strengths of our organization. In the time where regional issues become complicated and sophisticated, we conduct analysis and make proposals which can meet the various challenges.Please make use of this in planning and policy makings.
